Withdrawal from Lessons
If you decide to withdraw from lessons during the term, please notify JC Swim School as soon as possible.
Fees remain payable for all lessons attended up until the date we receive notification. Once an enrolment has commenced, refunds are not provided for unused lessons except where required by New Zealand law.
Missed Lessons and Make-Up Classes
JC Swim School does not provide refunds or credits for lessons missed due to illness, holidays, family commitments, isolation requirements or any other personal circumstances.
Where possible, we will offer a make-up lesson for swimmer illness. Make-up lessons are subject to availability in a class of the same ability level and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
Make-up lessons are available for swimmer illness only.
## Pool Closures and Lesson Cancellations
Occasionally, circumstances beyond our control may require lessons to be cancelled. These may include, but are not limited to:
* Severe weather
* Power outages
* Venue closures
* Pool contamination (including faecal incidents)
* Damage to pool facilities
In these circumstances, refunds will not be provided.
If a lesson is cancelled due to an issue that is within JC Swim School's control, such as equipment failure, water heating, chemical balance or water quality issues, we will make every effort to provide a make-up lesson.
If a suitable make-up lesson cannot be provided, a credit equal to one lesson will be applied to your next term's enrolment. Credits cannot be exchanged for cash.
Late Payments
Accounts not paid by the due date, where no prior payment arrangement has been approved, will incur a $20 late payment fee.
JC Swim School reserves the right to recover any reasonable costs incurred in collecting overdue accounts where permitted by law.
Health and Safety
The safety of our swimmers, families and staff is our highest priority.
* All children on poolside must be actively supervised by their caregiver.
* Swimmers must not enter the water until instructed by their teacher.
* Parents and caregivers remain responsible for supervising children before and after lessons.
* With the exception of Te Puna o Whakaehu, our facilities do not have lifeguards on duty.
* Only swimmers enrolled in the lesson may enter the water. Siblings, relatives and friends are not permitted to swim during lessons.
* Running around pool areas is dangerous due to slippery surfaces. Caregivers are responsible for ensuring children behave safely at all times.
* Please encourage swimmers to use the toilet before entering the pool.
* Children who are not toilet trained must wear an approved swim nappy.
* To help maintain a clean environment, please ensure feet and hands are clean before entering the pool.
* Swimmers who are unwell, have vomiting or diarrhoea within the previous 48 hours, or have an infectious illness should not attend lessons.
* Families must advise JC Swim School of any medical conditions, allergies or additional needs that may affect a swimmer's participation.
Equipment
Swim caps and goggles are strongly encouraged as they improve comfort and visibility in the water.
JC Swim School swim caps are available for purchase poolside for $6.
Goggles are also available for purchase poolside for $28.
Our Teaching Programme
At JC Swim School, we focus on developing confident, independent and technically sound swimmers.
We strive to provide consistency in our teaching programme; however, we cannot guarantee that a swimmer will remain with the same instructor throughout a term. Our instructors all teach using the JC Swim School methodology to ensure a consistent learning experience.
JC Swim School reserves the right to change instructors or class allocations at any time.
Swimmers progress to the next level only once they have demonstrated competency in all of the required skills for their current level. Progression is based on skill development rather than the number of lessons attended.
If you have any questions about your swimmer's progress, please speak with your instructor or contact the office.
Photography and Video
From time to time, photographs and videos may be taken during lessons for staff training, promotional material and social media.
Please notify a staff member if you do not wish your swimmer to be photographed or recorded.
Behaviour Expectations
JC Swim School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and family-friendly environment.
Any person who behaves in a manner that is aggressive, abusive, threatening, disruptive or unsafe towards swimmers, families or staff may be asked to leave the facility immediately.
JC Swim School reserves the right to suspend or cancel enrolments where behaviour compromises the safety or wellbeing of others.
Privacy
Personal information collected during enrolment is used for lesson administration, communication and safety purposes. JC Swim School manages personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
