At Noosa Professional Dance Academy, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students, staff, and families. Parents and caregivers play a critical role in upholding these standards. Compliance with this Code of Conduct is a condition of enrolment.
Zero Tolerance for Abuse or Intimidation
NPDA enforces a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviour by parents or caregivers. Any abusive, threatening, intimidating, aggressive, deceptive, or disruptive behaviour toward staff, students, teachers, other parents, or any member of the NPDA community will result in immediate termination of enrolment, effective immediately, without refund or credit.
This applies to behaviour occurring:
- On NPDA premises (including studios, waiting areas, and change rooms)
- At NPDA-sanctioned events (classes, rehearsals, performances, competitions)
- Via verbal, written, or electronic communication (including email, text, and social media)
Prohibited behaviour includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal abuse, yelling, swearing, or derogatory language
- Threats, intimidation, harassment, or coercion
- Physical aggression or intimidating behaviour
- Gossip, defamation, or malicious conduct
- Disruptive or confrontational behaviour at NPDA or NPDA events
- Inappropriate or hostile communication via electronic platforms
NPDA reserves the right to restrict access to the premises or events where behaviour compromises the safety or wellbeing of others.
Behaviour Expectations
1. Respect for Staff and Students
- Parents must treat all NPDA staff, instructors, students, and families with courtesy and respect at all times.
- Professional decisions regarding training, class structure, choreography, and student placement are to be respected.
2. Communication
- All communication with NPDA staff must be professional, respectful, and appropriate.
- Concerns must be raised through approved channels and not discussed publicly or in front of students.
- Aggressive, demanding, or disrespectful communication will not be tolerated.
3. Behaviour on NPDA Premises and at Events
- Parents must not interrupt or interfere with classes, rehearsals, or performances.
- Disruptive behaviour in studios, waiting areas, change rooms, or event venues is prohibited.
- Parents must not approach, discipline, or confront students other than their own child.
4. Attendance and Punctuality
- Parents are responsible for ensuring students arrive on time and attend classes consistently.
- Absences should be communicated to NPDA in advance wherever possible.
5. Community Conduct
- Parents are expected to support a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students, not only their own child.
- Gossip, negative commentary, comparisons, or conduct that undermines students, staff, or programs is unacceptable.
6. Conflict Resolution
- All concerns must be addressed calmly and respectfully in accordance with NPDA’s established procedures.
- Public confrontation, social media commentary, or involving other families is not acceptable.
- Confidentiality and privacy must be respected at all times.
Breach of Code
Failure to comply with this Parent Code of Conduct may result in one or more of the following actions, at NPDA’s sole discretion:
- Immediate termination of enrolment without notice
- Restricted or revoked access to NPDA premises or events
- No refund or credit of fees where enrolment is terminated due to misconduct
By enrolling a student at NPDA, parents and caregivers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. These measures exist to protect the safety, wellbeing, and positive experience of all members of the NPDA community.
