Terms & Conditions
Enrolment in a Music for Canberra program constitutes acceptance of these terms.
1. Membership & Enrolment
1.1 Everyone who wishes to participate in a Music for Canberra program must first become a member.
1.2 Membership Fee: $40
1.3 Membership grants the registering musician—or the parent/guardian of a minor—the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
1.4 A parent or guardian with multiple children enrolled pays a single membership fee.
1.5 Membership fees are billed once per year upon initial enrollment. Trial participants who do not enroll will not be charged membership.
1.6 Programs run on a standard nine-week term aligned with ACT public school dates. Term dates are available on the Music for Canberra website.
1.7 Enrolments automatically renew each term unless written notice of withdrawal is provided at least two weeks before the next term begins.
2. Fees & Payment
2.1 Full payment is required prior to the first class or by the invoice due date, whichever is earlier.
2.2 Fees are non-refundable, and enrolment is not confirmed until payment is received.
2.3 Students may not attend classes if fees remain unpaid, except for one complimentary trial session (only one trial per student).
2.4 Members experiencing financial hardship may submit a written request for a payment plan or scholarship prior to the due date by contacting the office.
2.5 A $30 late fee will be applied to overdue payments.
2.6 Accepted payment methods include:
• Electronic transfer (Westpac | BSB: 032719 | Account: 601858)
• Credit or debit card (excluding Diners Club and AMEX) via phone, email, post, or in person (by prior arrangement).
3. Cancellations & Withdrawals
3.1 Withdrawal must be communicated in writing at least two weeks before the next term begins: info@musicforcanberra.org.au
3.2 Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a prorated charge—including the two-week notice period—as a late-withdrawal fee.
3.3 Mid-term withdrawals may be eligible for a partial refund or credit only in truly exceptional circumstances, subject to General Manager approval. Exceptional circumstances include, but are not limited to:
• Medical emergencies or serious illness (documentation required)
• Bereavement of an immediate family member
• Unexpected relocation due to employment or family hardship
3.3.1 Approved refunds under 3.3 are subject to a $25 administration fee, unless the remaining balance is credited to a future term or donated.
4. Photo Permissions
4.1 Music for Canberra is a performing arts organisation. By becoming a member, you understand that photos and videos will be taken by Music for Canberra staff and contracted photographers/videographers in performance settings for promotional and archival purposes.
4.2 These images may appear in the media, advertising, websites, printed and digital promotional material, and on social media.
4.3 As an enrolled member, your permission for this is automatic.
5. Absences
5.1 No credit or refund will be issued for any class or ensemble rehearsal that proceeds as scheduled.
5.2 Parents and guardians should exercise discretion regarding attendance when a student is ill to protect the wellbeing of others.
5.3 Notice of any absence must be provided in writing.
5.4 Absences due to illness, holidays, school events, or personal commitments will not be credited or refunded, as fees secure a student’s place for the full term.
6. Class Cancellations & Credits
6.1 If Music for Canberra cancels a class, a refund or credit will be issued for the prorated amount of that class for the term.
