Medical conditions
You must inform us on your enrolment form if your child has a medical condition or learning difficulty which may affect the way we teach your child or affect their safety.
For example, but not limited to:
ASD, ADHD, epilepsy, difficulties with hearing, seeing, auditory processing, anxiety, speech and language delays, allergies, asthma, heart conditions, cerebal palsy, developmental coordination disorder.
Pool gate and glass fence: Please do not allow your children to hang off the glass gate and glass fence. They are not play equipment and your child may be injured if they do break them.
Please also discourage your children from licking and wiping their hands on the windows and glass.
Entry ramp: Children must be supervised in this area. It is not an area for running around as you are beside a pool. It is a quiet area. It can also be slippery if wet. Please be careful.
Food:
Please no food in the pool area. Please feed your children after the lesson when you have left the pool area. We do have a number of children with severe and life threatening allergies. It would be nice if they could attend lessons confidently.
Equipment:
Children aged 3 and above need to attend with goggles and bathers. Nursery and children who are not fully toilet trained need to wear swimming nappies.
Nursery classes:
Parents or carers must come in the pool with them until they're 3. There is a small change area for use.
Skin rashes:
There are guidelines from the Health Department regarding skin rashes. If your child has a diagnosed rash, please let us know and we can give you advice specific to your condition. If it is undiagnosed, please seek medical advice.
Diarrhea:
If your child has had diarrhea they must stay out of the pool for 2 weeks after symptoms have stopped.
Supervision:
Children must be supervised at all times by an adult. Children must also be supervised by an adult while leaving. Please be aware it is a pool gate and your children can open it from the inside.
Children are not allowed to enter the water until the teacher instructs them to do so. They also must exit the water at the end of the lesson when instructed. If they get out to use the bathroom, please do not allow them to re-enter the water without the teachers knowledge.
Excessive noise, running etc are all disruptive to the lesson in progress. If children are using electronic devices, please give them headphones. It is a learning environment so please keep noise to a minimum so the children in the water can hear instructions.
Glass and ceramic:
Strictly no glass or ceramic items to be brought into the pool area.
Broken glass, in particular, may result in a costly clean up exercise for you.
Thank you everyone for helping keep the swim school a nice and safe learning environment for everyone.
