ENROLMENT

- All Term Fees are due on or before 1st class of term.

- All Fees are non-refundable. Missed classes can be happily made up in alternate classes.

- An administration charge of 10% will be charged on all accounts overdue unless prior arrangements have been made.
Any costs of debt recovery will be borne by the parents.

- Please note that NSW International Ballet Academy reserves the right to amend class times, teachers and studios whenever necessary.

- Private lessons may be requested by parents, however approval for those private lessons, along with what the private lessons are to be used for, is at the sole discretion of the Executive Director. Whilst we are happy to take requests for particular days and times, these can NEVER be guaranteed. Please only note days and times that you cannot do. If you have too few options, private lessons may not be able to be allocated. We reserve the right not to allocate lessons to your child in these circumstances. All decisions on teachers allocated are taken by the Executive Director. If private lessons are requested, it is expected that the lesson will be attended for the whole of the school year. Students are not to to start and stop private lessons during the year, subject only to illness or injury (and then in consultation with the Executive Director).

- A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel a private lesson. Lessons not cancelled appropriately will be charged at usual rates.

- Private lesson fees must be paid on or before the day of the lesson. A 10% administration applies otherwise.

- Please notify the Academy if a student will be absent from class for any reason.

- One term’s notice must be given in writing if discontinuing at the Academy, otherwise term fees will still be applicable for the following term.

HEALTH INFORMATION

- In allowing my child to participate in the Academy activities, I hereby assume all the risks associated with the performing arts. I understand the importance of myself and my child following the instructions and rules set by their teacher/s, and I agree to release the Academy and it’s employees of any and all liability which may arise as a result of my child’s participation in activities at the Academy.

- In the event you cannot be contacted immediately following an emergency you authorise for an ambulance to be called in the case of an emergency, all medical and surgical treatment, X-ray, laboratory, anaesthesia and other medical and/or hospital procedures may be performed or prescribed by the attending physician and/or paramedics for my child and I waive my right to informed consent of treatment.


PHYSCIAL CONTACT

- Teaching classical ballet is a physical activity and appropriate physical contact between students and teachers in class is essential to ballet training. Teachers can make physical contact with a student to illustrate a concept or to adjust a student’s alignment (especially with the younger students). Ballet posture often requires adjusting the rib-cage and the buttock area simultaneously and it is sometimes necessary to touch the inner thigh, especially with younger students. In pas de deux classes, teachers will demonstrate with students in ways which will involve supporting and lifting.

- In choreographic teaching, teachers demonstrate positions and movements to the students by moving parts of the students’ bodies and by moving dancers in relation to each other: this often involves a considerable amount of contact with students.

- The NSW International Ballet Academy recognises that such physical contact is a potentially complex area, and the Academy also fully recognises its responsibilities for safeguarding students and teachers and for protecting their welfare. The following principles and procedures are in place to fulfil the Academy's obligations:
a) Contact by the teacher is made with particular awareness of the needs of each individual, to assist the dancer in correcting placement;
b) All teachers will treat any physical contact with due sensitivity and care, and with due regard for the wishes of the student;
c) Contact will not involve force or the use of any instrument;
d) Teachers will be mindful of location and avoid situations where they are isolated with a student; all classes should be held in studios and dance areas with windows;
e) Students should be encouraged to discuss any worries with either their Student mentor, any member of staff or an Independent Listener;
f) Both students and teachers should feel free to report any concerns to the Executive Director.

- In allowing my child to participate in the Academy's activities, I recognise the above rules regarding Physical contact by the teacher’s and/or staff of the NSW International Ballet Academy.
